IBRA STARTED 2016 BY SCORING

PSG THROUGH IN THE FRENCH CUP

WASQUEHAL.

Zlatan's 2015 was tremendous and some think he's better than he's ever been.

Today he started 2016 in the same manner, scoring.

His header to 0-1 became the only goal when PSG beat Wasquehal and went through to the French Cup Round of 32.

PSG went to the small village Wasquehal in Northern french for the French Cup-Round of 64.

GOALLESS FIRST HALF

Not much happened in the first half. Zlatan had a couple of chances and PSG dominated the game but Wasquehal also had a few quite dangerous counterattacks. You could tell that the game perhaps didn't feel as big an important as PSG are used to. 0-0 at halftime.

ZLATAN GAMEWINNER

In their aim for winning all the French titles once again, it was obviously important to get a win today. In the 60th minute Zlatan scored. A nice cross from Verratti reached Ibra in the penalty area, goalkeeper Samson misjudged the ball a bit and Zlatan lob-headed the ball nicely into goal. 0-1 to PSG, which despite some more chances for a another PSG-goal eventually became the final result.

PSG through to the French Cup Round of 32.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN Starting XI: Sirigu - Aurier, Kimpembe, Thiago Motta, Kurzawa - Verratti, Stambouli, Matuidi (out 80') - Rabiot (out 58') - Augustin, Ibrahimović (c).

Subs: Lucas (in 58') - Marquinhos (in 80').

ZLATAN.

Playing with only Augustin as the real attacking companion alot of PSG's offensive play circled around Ibra. He took several shots in the first half, but none of them were on goal. It was positive to see him create chances but the real concentration wasn't there.

Ibra kept attempting in the second and in the 60th minute he scored. He headed a Verratti-cross over Samson into the goal to 0-1, Ibra's 18th goal in 23 games this season. Zlatan had a total 7 attempts towards goal, but it was only the header to 0-1 that was on goal. Zlatan scored and PSG won, that's what was most important today.

"IT WAS ALL ABOUT WINNING"

2015.01.03 | Zlatan Unplugged

ZLATAN'S THOUGHTS AFTER WASQUEHAL-PSG

Today's match in the French Cup ended in a 1-0 win, which you decided with a goal in the 60th minute. Care to comment on you own and the team's performance against Wasquehal?

ZLATAN: "It was all about winning."

Naturally, PSG dominated throughout the match. Ball possession 80/20, 22-5 in scoring chances, and you got about ten attempts yourself. Why is it that you don't manage to produce more goals today?

ZLATAN: "These things happen."

Marco Verratti, who assisted your goal and recently was appointed Best Italian Player 2015, is responsible for a lot of PSG's game structure. Both of you came to the club at the same time, in 2012, what do you think of Veratti's development during your time together in PSG?

ZLATAN: "He is exactly developing into the player I predicted."
