ZLATAN GAMEWINNER ONCE AGAIN

PSG BEAT MONTPELLIER 3-0 ON TERRIBLE PITCH

MONTPELLIER.

On a terrible football pitch PSG finally managed to beat Montpellier 3-0 in the French Cup and Zlatan became the gamewinner with 1 goal and 1 assist.

– After all I've been through it is so good to be feeling fine physically. And the goals will come, that doesn't worry me, Zlatan said after the game.

After a long holiday and only a friendly game in two weeks it was time for PSG to restart the competitive season of 2014/15. They did it on a bad pitch in Montpellier and despite not playing at all great, they still won 3-0 and gamewinner was Zlatan with his 1 goal + 1 assist.

TERRIBLE PITCH

The pitch in Montpellier this January evening was terrible. It was ridiculously bad. The ball bounced around like on a farmer's field and it created an intense and non-controlled game. The first 20 minutes were chaos and neither of the team created any real chances.

FORGETTABLE HALF

And it didn't get any better. A couple of half chances here and there for both teams, but no proper attacks, the pitch simply didn't allow it. This was a forgettable first half. 0-0.

NO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE-EVENING

The start in the second was similar. PSG's passing was a little bit more focused and as the pace in the game went down a bit, the accuracy from both teams was better. But the first twenty minutes were not good and both teams had real problems creating structured attacks. It wasn't until the last 25 minutes the game came to life and PSG scored three times.

CHANTOME-GOAL ASSISTED BY ZLATAN

PSG took bigger and bigger steps into the game and in the 63rd minute, they took the lead. Zlatan set the attack up by passing out to Marquinhos on the right, who tried to find Paris-players in the middle in the penalty area, the ball reached Zlatan again, who got to it before Montpellier-feet and passed it back Chantome who scored from a close distance. 0-1.

ZLATAN GAMEWINNER

After the goal PSG controlled the game and in the 79th minute Zlatan became the gamewinner. A clean header from close range after a cross from subbed Pastore, nice 0-2-goal.

LUCAS 0-3 AFTER GREAT SUB FROM PASTORE

Lucas made it 0-3 after a beautiful move in the 90th minute. Pastore made a great substitution and played a big part in PSG's great finish to the game with his assist to Zlatan and several sweet moves. The 3-0-result did not mirror this game but after having problems deciding the games in end of 2014, maybe PSG is not growing as the champions they should be and start winning games easily even though they don't play their best game.

ZLATAN.

First half was nothing great. A couple of nice passes out to the wings, a couple of sweet one-two-touches but he didn't create any chances for himself or his teammates. The pitch was terrible and it was obvious this game was far away from the big games coming up later this year. He got a yellow card for a late tackle in the 25th minute.

First fifteen minutes in the second half looked pretty much the same. No real chances. He won a duel and headed back to Rabiot who shot in the 60th and four minutes later he played a big part in PSG's leading goal where he assisted Chantome. He set the attack up and then was last on the ball before the Frenchman scored.

His second half was better than the first, he looked more dangerous, won quite a few duels and in the 79th minute he decided the game with a nice header.

1 goal + 1 assist in a very mediochre game, that's what Zlatan is all about.

"WORST PITCH EVER"

2015.01.05 | Zlatan Unplugged

ZLATAN'S THOUGHTS AFTER MONTPELLIER-PSG

One goal and one assist in a 3-0 win on a difficult away pitch, against defensively strong Montpellier. Are you happy with the start of 2015?

ZLATAN: "It's always good to win. So yeah, we start the year well."

The pitch looked sub-standard to say the least. How was it to play on and how much did it affect the overall match?

ZLATAN: "Worst pitch ever. You can't play on a pitch like that."

You were involved in your first goal, you got the ball to Clément Chantôme, who got to score his first goal in the PSG jersey since 2012/13. Judging by the roar it seemed like a goal that has been awaited for a long time?

ZLATAN: "It was important to score the first goal, especially since the pitch was so rough."

Fifteen minutes later, you put a nail in the coffin when you got a controlled header in the net to 2-0. It was your fist goal since the CL match against Barcelona on the 10th of December. Was it a good feeling to get back on the scoreboard again?

ZLATAN: "After all I've been through it is so good to be feeling fine physically. And the goals will come, that doesn't worry me."
